Tavistock Colts 3 Torquay Colts 19 TAVISTOCK Colts played Torquay on Saturday in wet and very windy conditions. Playing with the wind in the first half Tavistock failed to make the most of the elements and most of this half was played in the middle of the park instead of in the Torquay half. Tavistock managed to get points on the board first with a penalty in front of the post which Mark Webber converted. However Torquay came back and Tavistock defended well at several break downs in their 22 but Torquay recycled ball and scored in the corner. Tavistock struggled to get lineout ball and dropped too many balls out wide to create opportunities to score from ? so the score remained at 5-3 at the interval. The second half started all Torquay and Tavistock were slow to cover across field which let their wingers in for two tries which they converted. Andrew Smerdon for Tavistock made some breaks into the Torquay half but support players could not recycle ball fast enough to capitalise. The score was now at 19-3 but Tavistock Colts showed great character and played some of their best rugby running out of defence with Jake Chinn leading the way and Hammy Kerswill looking prominent. This was a defeat for the Colts but an improvement on their last meeting. l Tavistock Colts have no game this weekend.
