CALLINGTON town clerk Vernon Anderson is leaving the post at the end of the month after two years.

Mr Anderson will be joining the clerk's office of Frome Town Council in Somerset as chief executive officer.

Since he joined in February 2009, Mr Anderson has been instrumental in several big projects, including the refurbishment of the town hall complex and Saltash Road Recreation Park.

He said he had enjoyed his time in Callington and hoped he had brought the town council into the 21st century.

The clerk will be going to a town with a population of 27,000, more than four times the size of Callington.

Portreeve Karen Gold said Mr Anderson had been a great asset to the council, including obtaining large amounts of grant funding, and members were very sad to see him going.

'It will be a huge loss but we wish him all the best,' she said.
