DJM U13 Hermes Tavistock Town 8 Looe Juniors 0 TAVISTOCK started brightly against Looe at Kelly College and the game was effectively over as a contest within the first 15 minutes as Quick and two from Moorhead gave Tavistock a 3-0 lead. Defensively Tavistock were strong with McClung, Rosser-Lewis, Hosking and Panter leaving Scrivener in goal with nothing much to do. On 30 minutes good work down the right by Hoar resulted in an own goal for the fourth Tavistock goal. Two minutes before half time Tavistock produced some fine football through Quick and Moorhead down the left to give Alford the chance to finish well at the near post for a 5-0 half time lead. Two minutes into the second half Blatchford added his first of the game following good pressure from Hicks. Quick added his second midway through the half when he turned home a fine strike from Hicks which had rebounded off the bar. Blatchford completed the scoring with 15 minutes to go. It was a comfortable win for Tavistock who now return to the top of the division. This was their second game in 24 hours. On a heavy pitch Tavistock dominated the early part of the game with Northmore and Moorhead supplying Quick and Hoar down both wings. The early pressure brought its reward after just four minutes when Hicks found the bottom corner of the goal from 12 yards. Town continued to press the game but were undone when a miss hit cross looped over Scrivener on the Tavistock goal. Undeterred Tavistock raised their game again and continued to work the passing game to good effect. Ten minutes before half time the pressure paid off again when Moorhead was fouled in the area for a clear penalty which Hicks converted with ease. Tavistock were 2-1 up at half time, which was a fair reflection on the play. Ten minutes into the second half Tavistock extended their lead from the penalty spot after a handball. Hicks completed his hat-trick with another calm finish. Plymstock pushed forward to try to save the game before Tavistock?s Alford finish the game off from inside the penalty box with 15 minutes to go. Plymstock had a penalty of their own with a few minutes to go which was well saved by Scrivener.
