TAVISTOCK U13s faced their toughest rugby competition of the season, against a well drilled and physically strong side from Barnstaple.
Tavistock got off to a flying start, when Bert Rodgers wriggled through for the first try of the match.
A great tackle by Oliver ended Barnstaples counter attack, and Charley Fethney showed his strength and speed with a try under the posts, effortlessly converted by Tom McMahon. Tavistock made life difficult for themselves by giving away too many penalties, and Barnstaple worked their way back, scoring five tries which fortunately for Tavistock were all in the corners and out of range for their kicker.
Brady and Charley restored Tavistock spirits with a stunning run through the Barnstaple defence, to win the only Tavi try of the second half. This was another entertaining match, played in good spirit by both sides.
