PUPILS at Bere Alston Primary had a special visitor recently when Michael Lapage, who won a silver medal in the 1948 London Olympics for rowing, and was a torch bearer in St Austell for the 2012 London Games, came to open the school's own Olympic sports week.

Pupils took part in a ceremony in which they held torches representing the nations who are to take part in the Olympics.

They ran in relays around the grounds until they all gathered in the school field where they met Mr Lapage for the grand opening.
