THIS was another good performance by Hatherleigh although they got off to their usual sluggish start.

After a few half chances at either end the visitors took the lead midway through the first half.

A ball across the penalty area saw Neil Vernon beat the defender to it. He flicked the ball up for a shot and was felled by another defender?s late lunge. Vernon despatched the resultant penalty into the bottom corner.

After some strong words from manager, Bert Heaman, at halftime Hatherleigh dominated the second period.

They got their second when Simon Pearson released Stuart Dymond down the right. Dymond cut in towards goal before squaring a pass to Sam Woolacott who sidefooted the ball home.

Hatherleigh now took the luxury of bringing on fresh legs as Steve Cleave and Scholari Jones came on.

Jones scored with virtually his first touch.

Having been put clean through on goal, he jinked around the goalkeeper before placing the ball into the unguarded net.

The fourth was scored by Woolacott who finished confidently when presented with his chance.

This weekend sees a double header for Hatherleigh: away to Pinhoe on Saturday, then in Okehampton to play Tedburn St Mary in the Okehampton Cup semi-final on Sunday.

In an earlier match, Hatherleigh defeated bottom of the table Exeter St Thomas 5-0.

Goals came from Stuart Dymond (3), Sam Woollacott and Matty Adams.
