?OUTSTANDING? was the verdict following an art and poetry competition entered by children from Lydford Primary School recently. The competition, run in conjunction with the National Trust?s Lydford Gorge, centred on the theme ?A season at Lydford Gorge?. Sarah Hartop, gorge shop manager, said there were a good number of entries and the quality for both entries was outstanding ? in fact, it was so good she could not decide on one winner and chose a winner from each age group. Sarah said: ?I had a very difficult but enjoyable time judging. The children are all so creative and I would like to thank the school and the children for their support with this event.? The winners in the poetry competition were Jake Jenden, aged 10; Harriet Brain, 9; Paul Sieradzki, 8; Lauren Friend, 7 and Reuben Clayman, 6. The winners of the art competition were Michael Brain, aged 11; Bethan Dean, 10; Emily-Jayne Preen, 9; Paul Sieradzki, 8 and Kate Marks, aged 7.
