ONE of the highest fundraisers for ROC's fire walk in Tavistock before Christmas has been praised for raising £1,000.
David Conn, director of business development agency Broadley Speaking, has been named as ROC's top individual fundraiser.
Calvin Lovelock, ROC's fundraiser, said: 'I am most grateful for the heroic individuals who took part in the ROC festive fire walk. The courage they showed was exemplary given the very blustery conditions.
'My thanks go to David Conn, highest fundraiser, and his very generous supporters. Thanks to the generosity of the supporters of all our fire walkers and sponsors, ROC expects to raise a grand total of £4,000. With the extensive publicity generated by this event, this augurs well for the future of ROC Welcome Tavistock — a social club for local people with learning disabilities.'
David Conn said: 'We look to support local charities, especially if we can find innovative ways to do so. The fire walk for ROC was a great example. We raise funds for charity on a monthly basis for a variety of charities, but it is good to have a big event to focus on in the year.'
