A SMALL Bed and Breakfast in Lydford scooped a top accolade at the RAC?s annual hospitality awards this month.

Moor View House received two dining awards and a Little Gem award at this year?s centenary award ceremony making it a five diamond RAC recommended guest house.

RAC hotel business manager Linda Astbury said: ? As industry standards rise consistently year on year, standing out from the crowd and winning an award becomes an even greater achievement ? Moor View House is a credit to Devon.?

The Lydford Bed and Breakfast is a small, licensed Victorian Country House right on the edge of Dartmoor which owners David and Wendy Sharples have spent the past 12 years restoring to its former glory.

With log fires for winter evenings and tea on the terrace on a balmy afternoon, Moor View has also been recognised by the AA, who recently awarded it a five red diamond award for hospitality.

Wendy Sharples said: ?We?re really pleased to have won these awards ? it?s been a lot of hard work but it?s obviously paid off.?

Both the RAC and AA awards are presented to small hotels demonstrating premier standards of customer care, cleanliness, service and accomodation, while the dining awards were presented in recognition of Moor View?s dedication to serving good English food.
