A WEST Devon-based cheese producer was last week celebrating, following news it has scooped three prestigious awards at a top industry exhibition. Taw Valley Creamery at North Tawton, part of The Cheese Company, won the gold and silver awards at the International Food and Drink Exhibition in London last week — part of a haul of 14 medals in total. Taw Valley Creamery won two gold awards for its mature Cheddars and also a gold award for its double Gloucester. In addition, the creamery won silver for its mature vintage Cheddar and four bronzes for its vintage Cheddar, red Leicester and two extra mature Cheddars. Neil Kennedy, managing director of The Cheese Company, said: 'We are pleased that the excellence of our cheeses has been recognized at the highly regarded World Cheese Awards. These awards celebrate distinction in cheese-making on the basis of texture, aroma, appearance and taste. 'With nearly 2,000 cheeses entered from all over the world, we are extremely happy that Taw Valley Creamery won three gold medals.'
