A NEW-look forum to help sporting organisations in West Devon meets for the first time this month.
The West Devon Advisory Sports Forum will be able to offer vital information and support, including accessing funds, attaining accreditation, developing activities and facilities as well as bring the latest news and views.
The forum is made up of sports organisations across the borough and clubs are being encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
Benefits will include:
l A regular copy of the 'West Devon Sport' newsletter sent directly to a club/committee secretary
l Regular bulletins on sports courses and funding opportunities
l Subsidised places on club development workshops
l Valuable club development packs, including examples of all important policies such as sample constitution, equity statements and child protection
l Inclusion of every club in a comprehensive 'on-line' sports directory.
The Sports Forum will meet tomorrow (Friday) at the council chamber, West Devon Borough Council Offices in Kilworthy Park, Tavistock.
There will also be a workshop during the meeting about Awards for All and other potential sports funders.
The first hour, from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm, will be an informal drop-in session with groups to see what the forum has to offer, followed by the workshop.
Ian Hancock, sports development officer for West Devon Borough Council, said that anyone who has an involvement in sport and active recreation within the borough is welcome to attend.
