OKEY Cokey played host to a perfect morning for children and adults alike last week, as parents and carers received free advice while youngsters played.

The event was organised by Okehampton Children's Centre. Taking place at the Okey Cokey indoor play centre on the North Road Industrial Estate, parents and carers of under 5s had the chance to talk to representatives and experts from a number of organisations while their children enjoyed a free play session.

Advice covered benefits, budgeting, crisis loans and community care grants, alongside a series of other advice.

Representatives from CAB, West Devon Borough Council, Careers South West and a range of other organisations were at the event.

Okehampton Children's Centre, run by Barnardo's, is based at Okehampton College. The centre is open on weekdays from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

Free activities take place both in Okehampton and out in the community, including Chagford, South Zeal and Sticklepath. These include parenting programmes, breastfeeding groups, baby massage, healthy eating, communication skills, music and movement, and support for children with additional needs. Staff also provide links to health services, education, employment and training.
