WEIR Quay Sailing Club has sailed the first race of its Frostbite series with a mixed fleet of six boats sailing a three-lap S-shaped course on the River Tamar in medium south west winds.

John Tomlinson's Wayfarer crewed by wife Janica built up a good lead followed by Megan Fell in a Laser, over the interesting course with reaches, beats and a final run.

Results: 1, John Tomlinson, 53 mins 50 secs; 2, Steve Kirby, 'Arisk,' Skipper; 3, Thomas Brook, 'Marner', Mirror.

Final results of the summer series: fast handicap: 1, John Tomlinson, Wayfarer; 2, Bob Townsend, Wayfarer; 3, Megan Fell, Laser.
