THE local Cancer Research UK committee wishes to thank

all those people who helped raise over £1,240 during the

recent Appeals Week — those who stood in the street

collecting and those who donated, those who helped with

a house to house collection and Morrison's, who

generously allowed us to collect outside their store.

All those people will surely be pleased to learn that the

overall cancer death rate has fallen by 12% over the last

decade and this charity has invested more money than

ever in its world class research programme, supporting

4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses to that 'Together we

will beat cancer'.

This year's annual Pink Ribbon Ball will be held in

Tavistock Town Hall on Saturday October 4 and will again

share its proceeds between Derriford's Primrose Ward and

Cancer Research UK, so if you would enjoy a dinner and

dance —black tie and all the trimmings — please contact
