FORMER pupils of Tavistock Comprehensive School met up again at the end of May after a 25-year break.

The reunion for pupils from the years 1974-1979 was held in the Royal British Legion function room in Tavistock. Two of the organisers ? Peter Holland and Hugh Payne ? were slightly concerned over the small response from numerous e-mails and telephone calls, but, on the night, more than 70 people turned up.

As the evening was felt not to be long enough to catch up on 25 years? worth of news, there were calls for the event to be held every year, but due to the long distances travelled by some former pupils it was decided to hold the next reunion in five years? time.

The award for the furthest distance travelled went to Lesley Platts, who came from Washington DC. Others came from Milton Keynes, Brighton, Birmingham and Nottingham.

Peter and Hugh thanked everyone who attended or helped organise the event, with special thanks to Jo Gent for her help and Dorothy and Ian Kirk for representing the teaching staff.
