TAVISTOCK fire crew was called to help release a toddler locked in a car last Wednesday. The incident happened at around 3.30pm at Tavy Road in Tavistock, where a toddler had taken the keys out of his mother?s bag, unknown to her, and pushed the button to lock the car door while she was outside. He was unable to understand that he needed to lift the button to escape, so the fire crew was called. They gained entry to the mother?s house, where there was a spare set of keys, through a first floor window using a short extension ladder. The keys to the car were retrieved and the toddler ? who was aged approximately two-and-a-half years ? was released unharmed.
