TNT 58
Bideford 0
THIS last game of the season for Tavistock/North Tawton ladies was played in front of a large crowd and sponsor Lamisell Ltd, Structural Wood Beams.
TNT were on top from the start when Zoe Carlton at full back made a good break into the line, putting Bideford under pressure. Carlton again took the ball from a set scrum to score a try.
When a penalty try was awarded to TNT for obstruction centre Joe MacBain had no trouble in converting to make it 12-0.
With the forwards playing well and scrum half Terri Easton linking well with Helen King and excellent handling in the threequarters Bideford were on the ropes.
Captain Vicky Marsdon broke from the maul to give a great pass to Rose Helm. The winger-cum-hooker raced for the line for her first try for the side.
More good handling and passing saw outside half Helen King break and pass to Carlton to get her second try, converted by Terri Easton.
Bideford fought back but there was good defending by TNT, especially by Mitzy Poynton who suddenly broke free to race for the line and score a well taken winger?s try.
Vicky Marsdon broke out of the maul to feed Easton for a try to leave the score at 32-0 at the break.
Jane Bailey had to leave the field at half-time.
A great kick ahead by Carlton had Bideford under more pressure and another great break by Mitzy Poynton put Easton in for a try which she converted.
Good handling saw prop Clare Kelly get the final touch down for another try converted by Easton.
Bideford managed some attacks but TNT held firm and broke out of defence when Helm ran 50 metres for a try, converted by MacBain.
Minutes later saw Mitzy Poynton break out of defence with strong running to get the final TNT try.
Bideford lost Yaz Luxton through injury but Captain Hanah Ford can be proud her team never gave up.
But it was to be TNT?s Easter bonus with some champagne rugby to put them into the top three in the league.
