TWO new 'manager of the month' winners have emerged in Tavistock Library's Fantasy Football League.
Library users competing in the league were challenged to break the stranglehold established by two-time winners Kyle Roberts and Thomas Calvert —Chanda Nyerezani and Liam Delaney have done just that with their teams in October.
Winner in the adult category, Chanda, used his love of Westerns to turn book borrowing into transfer funds for his team, TK.
His recent signing of Manchester City's in-form midfielder Stephen Ireland enabled him to snatch a narrow victory for his side. He won tickets to watch Plymouth Argyle's victory over Cardiff City in last Saturday's early kick-off.
In the junior competition Liam stormed to victory after overhauling his line-up for Team Delaney, and adding Hull City's exciting Brazilian playmaker, Geovanni, to his midfield.
Liam, 12, who attends Tavistock College, received his tickets to one of Tavistock AFC's home games from the club chairman, Derek Pethick.
Library staff have worked out a system of points where Fantasy Football managers can earn extra 'cash' to buy fantasy players by borrowing books, using the library computer or attending events.
With one round of games to go in November, competition is tighter than it has ever been, with new players as well as old hands vying to win tickets to Argyle and Tavistock AFC.
Although the competition is now well under way, there are prizes to be won each month.
To join them in December's competition, pop down to the library and join the Fantasy Football League. Entry is free to anyone holding a valid library ticket and the competition runs through to the end of the football season.
