It was always going to be a difficult match and the heat made it hard going. Argyle put on a fantastic show for the spectators with an excellent display of good football, skill and teamwork. The scoring was opened after 17 minutes when Ryan Gross passed to Ben Bickle in centre field, who made a diagonal pass to Jamie Mallet which he crossed for Ben Jarvis to flick the ball on for Ross Voaden to volley into the net. Argyle kept the pressure on and were rewarded when Rhys Palmer made a superb tackle and put a through ball to Voaden, who beat the offside and blasted it into the top corner. Both teams continued creating chances but the score remained 2-0 at halftime. At the start of the second half, Exmouth piled the pressure on. The central defence of Liam Alford and Ben Barkwill held firm until a free kick was awarded from just outside the penalty area from which Exmouth pulled a goal back. This triggered Okehampton to step up a gear and they had a good spell of attacking pressure which led to a penalty being awarded which was saved by the keeper. Chances kept coming — Ben Jarvis rattled the bar from 20 yards. In the next attack the third goal came from Callum Goodwin who shot into the top corner from 25 yards. Voaden secured his hat-trick to make the scoring 4-1. Changes were then made due to heat exhaustion. This upset the balance of the team and Exmouth seized their chance to pull back another goal. Good control and a great finish by Tallan Burns gave Okehampton their fifth goal. Exmouth scored once more before the final whistle. Men of the match: Ben Jarvis and Ross Voaden. Great celebrations followed by Argyle having secured their well deserved league title. The first half saw practically no chances at either end, with a free kick from Gostling being Okehampton's best chance. In the second half the game began to open up. Okehampton took the lead when Toby Gostling scored with a great left foot shot from the edge of the area. Argyle continued to play good passing football; their second goal scored by Eddy Packer, guiding the ball home with a glancing header. A determined Argyle saw the game out, keeping a clean sheet with man of the match going to Harry Baker for outstanding defending.
