Polperro 0 Bere Alston 5 BERE Alston extended their lead at the top of the table to 12 points with this comprehensive win over a spirited Polperro side. Polperro came out all guns blazing as they pinned back the away side for the first 15 minutes. Only solid defending and excellent work by Howells down the right kept the scores level. At the other end Truscott for Bere Alston had a goal disallowed. Bere then took control of the game and took the lead in the 26th minute when Hann linked up with Truscott and the league's top goal scorer made no mistake as he slotted past Polperro keeper Collins from 10 yards. Shortly after the impressive Hann got on the end of a good move involving Hallet and Blatchford to make it two-nil to the visitors. Just before the interval Hann made it three as he burst through, calmly rounded the keeper to side foot into an empty net to give the league leaders a healthy lead at the break. The second half started with Bere carrying on where they left off, controlling most areas and carving open the Polperro back line. Ross Hann, who has proven to be a handful for the home side all game was fouled in the penalty area; Mark Wheeler duly stepped up to fire low into the bottom corner to make it four. Minutes later Polperro did have the ball in the back of the net but Howells in the Bere goal was fouled and the goal was disallowed. Pethick at the other end saw his shot come back off the post before Lee Blatchford wrapped up the scoring with a 25 yard free kick that gave Collins in the home goal no chance. l On Saturday Bere Alston are away to Mevagissey in the knock out cup, kick off 2pm and on Sunday Bere Alston entertain Lamerton in the Launceston Cup, kick off 2.30pm.
