Cambridge cup U18s Morley 4 Tavistock AFC 2 TAVISTOCK started well in a very physical contest. Despite missing key players the boys knuckled down to do their best. The break came when Phillips latched onto a poor midfield pass and flipped the ball over the defence to run onto and shoot home. Tavistock battled with Marks, Wallace, Derbyshire and Lake clearing the ball out to the midfield of Francis and Dingle. Tavistock players showed their maturity by walking away from some very rough challenges. Doyle and Phillip with good crossing from Maddock and Hammond saw them constantly bundled off the ball and shots going wide. The second half started badly when Wallace was felled by a stray elbow. Phillips and Francis were also grounded badly but the boys battled on and when Phillips latched onto another loose ball he slotted home. Morley began to get the better of tired legs and Wearing pulled off a number of one to one saves to keep Tavistock in the lead. With 12 minutes to go Tavistock suddenly switched off and allowed Morley to get a goal back. Almost straight from kick off they found an equaliser and the game began to get desperate with players booting the ball anywhere. After a long second half Morley scored again and then finished Tavistock off with a fourth. Player of the match: Andy Maddock. Next week Tavistock are home to Manstow.
