HORRABRIDGE residents can get information on how to undertake a self-assessment of their homes to see how energy efficient they are and what steps can be taken to improve them at a free event on Saturday.

The event takes place at Horrabridge Primary school at 10am, where people can find out more and trained volunteers from Transition Tavistock will be on help to give advice on energy efficiency.

This evening (Thursday) at 6pm at Horrabridge Village Hall and on Saturday at 1pm at Horrabridge Primary School, a number of specialist sessions will be held.

Visitors can learn more about making an older home more energy efficient, learn more about the range of options for renewable energy in the home — looking at solar, wind, wood, heat pumps and hydro — and Jack Penfound from Greenhus will be explaining the options of having external wall insulation fitted.

Refreshments will be available as well as a drawing competition on the Saturday to keep youngsters entertained.
