DJM Raleigh League U14s Tavistock Thistles 1 Chaddlewood Miners 2 DESPITE a new playing strip Thistles could not get a result against top of the league Chaddlewood. The match started well for Thistles who pressurised from the off, Rob Wearing making his first start for Thistles showed good skills and speed. The forward pair of Snell and Newton pushed for the entire first half. Sound defence from Simmons, Argles, Lowther and Jones looked to have kept it all square until half time, but after a period of good play the visitors took the lead. The second half started with Thistles pressing for an equaliser. Northmore and Lambert both had shots but could not find a way through. Thistles became open at the back and the visitors broke through a number of times, only keeper Haigh kept them at bay. On one of these attacks Haigh brought down the forward and the referee awarded a penalty. This was scored and Thistles had only 15 minutes to find a reply. With five minutes to go Leeson played a ball to Snell who turned in the penalty area and finished with a good left foot shot, making it four goals in three games. Astor U13s Tamerton Foliot 1 Tavistock Town 8 THIS was Town?s best performance of the season so far, playing some superb football, domintating from start to finish. Goals from Charlie Gale (5 ),Kieron Bryant, Peter Page and Sam Turner made up the scoring. Man of the match: Peter Page. Tavistock Town U12s Plymouth Trophyman U12s 1 Tavistock scored two goals inside the opening five minutes, from Keiran Alford and Elliot Blatchford. As the game progressed, fine defensive displays came from keeper James Scrivener and backs Josh Hoskin, Lee Rosser-Lewis, Tom Larcombe and Mark Harris. Tavistock added to their score with ten minutes to go, from man of the match Sam Hicks. Plymouth got a consolation goal five minutes from time. Elm Utd U11s 1 Tavistock Town U11s 4 TAVISTOCK dominated opening exchanges without really carving good chances. A long range shot from Barriball was parried by the Elm keeper and Tugwell followed up to put Tavistock one up. Tavistock sat back and invited Elm forward rather than taking the game to them. Just before half time, Elm got their equaliser when Shapland prodded home past McDonald. If it was not for McDonald being in top form, Tavistock could have been losing by three or four goals at half time. In the second half Tavistock looked a different team. The midfielders started to find space and their passes began to reach their targets. After another long range effort by Cole, the Elm keeper parried ? this time Chamberlain tucked away the rebound. With confidence flowing through the team, McDonald was a mere spectactor in the second half. Tavistock made it 3-1 when man of the match Merriott came in from the left wing and lobbed the keeper from 20 yards. It was his first league goal and well worth the three-year wait. Bone wrapped things up for Tavistock, tapping in at the far post after great wing trickery by Cole and an inch-perfect cross.
