Tavistock Tigers 2 Totnes Trojans 1 THIS was the second meeting between these two teams in as many weeks. Totnes wanted revenge after the first match defeat and soon dominated the play in the first half. The Tigers struggled to find a way through the opposition?s defence, and Trojans took advantage of this by taking the lead. As the second half got under way it did not take long for Tavistock to equalise, with a well taken goal from Julia Firth, scoring her first goal for the mixed side. Tavistock now looked the stronger side. Totnes started to struggle to get past Cowan Snr in defence and goalkeeper Osborne was not under so much pressure, and the midfield started to control the game. As the Tigers pressed forward Adam Holland?s pace was no match for the Trojans? defence, and as they backed away they gave him plenty of time to score the Tigers? second goal. Tavistock hung onto the slender lead and the Tigers had deserved to take six points off the Trojans. Although this was not the most convincing win by the Tigers it does put them in a good position within the league, as they now face stronger opposition from last season after gaining promotion.
