Tavistock RFC held the inaugural U16s tournament on Sunday — and it was a storming success. Fourteen clubs from all over Devon took part and after the group stages there were four knock out competitions. Tavistock U16s entered two teams – TRFC Tigers and TRFC Lions. Four trophies were collected. The Premier Cup was won by Exeter after a great game in which TRFC Tigers were denied at the last moment in their bid to beat Exeter for a place in the cup final. The Tigers won their competition and Olly Larcombe-Moore collected the team's cup — a fitting end to a long and at times difficult season. The Lions made their final but drew the game losing on a technicality. It has a been a great few seasons for the team, and although this is the end of their junior rugby career the players now move into the Colts. Tavistock Rugby Club TRFC is going from strength to strength and members fully appreciate a strong and vibrant junior, Colts and senior set-up starting their pre-season in mid-July. The festival was a fitting end to the season with rugby of high quality and played in great spirit, thanks to the commitment and support for the coaches and parents who made this possible.
