Ashmoor

TAVISTOCK always knew this would be a tough hockey game having failed to beat Ashmoor on two occasions last season; this, however, did not daunt the West Devon outfit.

Tigers started brightly as Edwards and the new midfield line up of Gorringe and Grey displayed good interplay between them.

The front two of Killingbeck and Gaspar were unlucky not to open the scoring on a couple of occasions early on. Tavistock took the lead following good work from centre back Carr set up Grey for the opening goal, a well struck shot leaving the 'keeper no chance. This spurred Ashmoor back into action and they were unlucky not to grab an equaliser but for the solid Osborne in the Tigers goal.

As the second half got underway Mills-Hicks, Curno, Evans and Viggers came under increasing pressure as Ashmoor stepped up the pressure.

Tigers doubled their lead, against the run of play, following an interception and pass by George turning defence to attack for Grey to bag his second goal.

Court, making a welcome return to the side, kept Ashmoor at bay for the remainder of the game with some stubborn defending.

This was a deserved win for the Tigers.
