THE recent Walking For Health celebration week across West Devon has been hailed as a great success with people walking in Okehampton and Tavistock.
Walking for Health is a nationwide scheme and West Devon joined in the Devon wide week long celebration walks.
Walking for health is a free scheme offering people the chance to participate in walks within their local areas led by trained voluntary walk leaders.
The walks are graded into the types of walk and depending on your ability or preference there is a walk for you — grade one walks are up to 30 minutes long and are local, on even ground, grade two walks are between 50-60 minutes and are also local on fairly even ground. Grade three walks can be uneven with steep inclines.
The groups are very social enjoying a cup of tea or coffee together at the end if walkers wish to join in.
A three-monthly programme is produced to highlight where the walks are, at what time and where to meet.
