TAVISTOCK College's first-ever Christmas concert was a complete sell-out with hundreds of people flocking to see the festive show.

The packed event was inspired by the success of the Easter concert and gave more than 250 students the opportunity to perform in front of a capacity crowd.

Sarah Pappin, head of music, said: 'It was absolutely amazing. It was great to see the students' enthusiasm and have so many wanting to be part of it, right through from Year 7 to 13.

'The way they conducted themselves on stage was so professional and their enthusiasm and energy for music was so apparent and inspiring to all.

'We're extremely proud of each and every one of them."

For many of the students it was the first proper concert they had taken part in. The huge success was clear, with 250 young people now wanting to be involved in music and feeling inspired by their chance to perform.

'It meant so much to see where they've come from and where they've got to in a year,' said Miss Pappin.

'Lots of them were really nervous beforehand, but now there's no stopping them— they keep asking when the next concert will be.

'We really appreciated John Collacott doing the sound, lighting and special effects and all the other staff who helped.

'It was just immense. It was bursting at the seams with amazing talent.'
