THE Three Peaks Challenge will be attempted this May Bank Holiday in aid of Okehampton-based charity, RAPID-UK. Rob Gazzard, a 31-year-old district forester, will attempt the challenge to scale the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours ? but he will have to get from one to another, usually involving a 500-mile drive, within 24 hours. RAPID-UK is involved in the training and development of local disaster management teams in areas of the world vulnerable to natural disasters.
