Mixed Summer Hockey league Insolvency Services 0 Tavistock Tigers 6 A confident Tavistock Tigers faced an Insolvency Services side rooted to the bottom of the league and looking for their first victory. All the early running came from Tavistock, with debutant?s Evans and Curnow quickly getting stuck in. The home side rarely threatened as Glanville, Roberts and Viggers mopped up any attacks early on. Despite their pressure Tavistock struggled to make the breakthrough, as the Insolvency Services goalkeeper pulled off several early saves. The first goal came from the reliable Miller from close range after good work by Armstrong and Evans on the left. This was quickly followed by a second. Coming from a short corner, a deflected shot was well knocked in at waist height by Andrews. Before half time Tavistock were three goals up as Andrews grabbed his second, ably assisted by a good cross from Firth. At half time it was stressed to the Tavistock players the importance of better, crisper passing and as the game restarted this was carried out to the letter as a well worked goal involving Jones and Gaspar was eventually scored by Firth. Moments later Andrews completed his hat trick with a fine individual effort. Although George and Armstrong both went close it was up to Miller to complete the scoring when she pounced on an Insolvency Services mistake, as both sides began to tire near the end.
