SIXTEEN firefighters from Callington and Saltash were called to Harrowbarrow on Monday after a report of a chimney fire.

Firefighters on three appliances attended just after 8.05pm and found the fire involved a single storey chalet-style building measuring 10x8 metres.

The fire had spread from a woodburner into the roof space. The ground floor and roof space were well alight on arrival and firefighters initially used two hosereels and four sets of breathing apparatus.

Crews had to access to the roof which was constructed of corrugated metal panelling and timber. To remove the roof panels, triple extension and roof ladders were used along with two breathing apparatus sets, a hose reel and safety jet. Due to the nature of the incident the Fire and Emergency support service (FESS) vehicle from Falmouth attended the incident.
