THREE members of the clergy in the Tavistock area are to be ordained during the coming weeks. Methodist minister the Rev David Stolton, who works part-time as a minister in local appointment in the Tavistock circuit, is due to be ordained at Tavistock Methodist Church on June 26 ? attendance at which is by ticket only. David has lived in Tavistock for seven years and was a local preacher before starting his training for the ministry in the circuit five years ago. Ordination in a minister?s local church is unusual in the Methodist Church, but the annual Methodist Conference ? during which ordinations take place ? is being held in Devon, allowing this to happen. Anglican clergy the Rev Miranda Donne and the Rev David Parr, who have been working in the Whitchurch parish for a year after being ordained as deacons in June of last year, will be ordained as priests at St Andrew?s Church at 2.30pm on July 2. David is a paid minister and Miranda is a non-stipendiary minister who has been living in the area for approximately eleven years.
