THREE 'needy spinsters and widows' of the parish of Tavistock benefited from a £150 grant last year, electors at the town's annual meeting were last week told.

The Jessie Ann Alford charity annually distributes grants to a maximum of eight eligible women over the age of 60 living in Tavistock.
