THE Trees of Light organised by Tavistock Lions Club last December raised just over £6,000 for local cancer charities.

The money has been shared equally between Children's Hospice Southwest, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Last year the lions club was registered as a charity, allowing the club to claim tax relief on donations made by UK tax payers.

The rebate will then be divided between the three charities, once it has been received from HM Revenue and Customs.
