WE are almost dumbstruck at the assertions by Suzi Allen, in a report commissioned by Peter Rowan, that the trees in Wyatts Lane are too close to the homes recently built by Moore and Son.
The trees were there long before the houses were built and therefore it is the houses that are too close to the trees.
As for the autumn leaf fall blocking the culvert, anyone who walked past the field before the houses were built could see a stream running through the field which, after a rainy spell, then created a boggy area along the sides of the stream and at the bottom of the field.

FOLLOWING the harsh cutting of foliage at the side of Abbey Walk there is now news of an application to fell 11 splendid healthy trees, covered by a preservation order, in Wyatts Lane.
Leaf drop leading to a possible blockage in the little stream and culvert has been cited as a problem resulting from the presence of the trees. I am sure this problem could be easily resolved without destroying the 11 trees and the natural habitat of this small and peaceful lane and hope that West Devon Borough Council can arrive at the same conclusion.
Trees are a major feature of Tavistock, adding charm to this market town, and I am sure I am not the only person to fully appreciate them. Objections to this proposed vandalism can be lodged in writing to the West Devon Borough Council by September 28.
Give it a go. I'm sure the trees would be grateful — after all they were growing long before the builders moved in!
