DJM Anson Tavistock Town U15s 4 Calllington Colts 1 IN the last game of the season Tavistock reversed an earlier drubbing and beat Callington 4-1 with a hat trick from striker and man of the match Callum Thompson. The match was played in bright sunshine, pouring rain and hailstones, so free flowing football was not always possible but Tavistock played the better football. Thompson opened the score with a deft chip over the keeper from wide out and followed it with a header from an excellent Ayres corner. At the start of the second half Callington tried a little harder and were gifted a goal from poor marking, but that was all they got from a second half which was played on an increasingly difficult pitch. However, Tavistock created all the chances and Thompson completed his hat trick and Pridham scored from a Case cross. The game allowed Tavistock to finish their first season in the top league in fifth place — the team would now like to be able to challenge for a top three place next year. Dene Case, a spokesman for the club, said: 'Overall the season has been satisfactory with the highs outweighing the lows and if the team becomes a little more consistent that top three place may be an attainable goal.'
