Devon second XI A
Tavistock seconds v
Bradninch seconds
BRADNINCH won the toss and put Tavistock into bat, and they were soon in trouble when Goodchild was trapped lbw in front for 0,
Kaitiff and Webber repaired the damage until a loose shot from Webber had him caught at extra cover for a good looking 23.
This was a difficult wicket to score on the rain midweek leaving the wicket two paced, this was proved again when McGahey lobbed a defensive shot back to Chappell who took an excellent diving catch.
P Stephens then joined Kaitiff and they pushed the score onto 90 before Kaitiff was caught at mid off. All-rounder Brett Thomas hit a classy 54 which pushed the Tavistock score towards 200, but the last five batsman could only muster 26 runs between them this meant that Tavistock were bowled out for 194
The Bradninch reply started badly when opener Davey drove at the first ball and missed timed to hole out to Andy Kaitiff, who and took a fine catch.
Nichols and Husain scored freely taking the total onto 32 when Dave Jeffery was brought into the attack he had Nichols trapped lbw in his second over.
Fecil heaved at a straight ball before Acton was also lbw to Thomas. Husain and Dean then dug in for a Draw but Thomas had other ideas he removed them both the second one in his comeback spell to give him a five wicket hall.
Jamie Stephens and Kaitiff then bowled in tandem to totally dry up the runs,
Kaitiff then took two wickets —firstly Hardy caught by McGahey at mid-wicket and Norris plum lbw.
With a draw on the cards McGahey brought Stephens back into the attack and as the last over arrived Tavistock still needed two wickets. On the second ball skipper Phil Chappell tried a sweep shot and he was lbw.
Last man Wills strode to the wicket hitting his first ball in the middle of the bat, the second went agonisingly past the edge but then on the penultimate ball of the game Stephens beat the bat to bowl him and Tavistock had won a thriller.
Tavistock earned 19 points and Bradnich 7pts.
