Tavistock Town U16s 6

Kitto Parkway U16s 2

TAVISTOCK started the game on the front foot and went ahead through an Ayres chargedown on the keeper's kick; the second came from a sublime move between Ayres and Pridham culminating in the latter chipping the keeper from the edge of the area.

The opposition clawed one back through a dreadfully defended corner and a second from some equally poor defensive errors to make the score 2-2 with five minutes to go to half time.  Mayne then stepped up to restore the lead to Tavistock and a 3-2 score at the interval.

Countless attacks by Town led to Pridham completing his hat trick followed by his fourth with no reply.

Tav Thistles U16s 3

Phoenix City U16s 0

THISTLES registered a win under their belt, but they laboured to beat an eager Phoenix team.

Tom Parry stood in as goalkeeper, and he duly delivered Thistles a first clean sheet of the season.

Thistles' first half domination wasn't matched with goals, as Tavistock squandered chances. New boy Ryan Clark was dogged in midfield. He went on a mazy run from the halfway line before unleashing a shot which was blocked first by the keeper and then by the post before Phoenix were able to clear their lines.

Sam Hortopp and Ben O'Neill constantly pressed forward in search of the breakthrough, which came on the half hour. The City defence looked to clear their area, but the loose ball came out to Sam Walker who hooked a dipping shot back over the keeper into the net.

In the second half Thistles pushed forward looking to consolidate their lead. Thistle's Robin Jones ran tirelessly at the City defence carving out  a golden opportunity for Louis Wilson, whose strike was superbly turned around the post by the Phoenix keeper. Thistles' failure to add to their lead gave Phoenix hope and they started to apply pressure themselves. However, the solid and well drilled defence of Jay Lambert, Ed Argles, Sam Newton and Cadan Lowther worked hard to blunt the Phoenix attack.

With ten minutes left, the Phoenix defence was breached for a second time. Leeson hoisted a clever lob from the edge of the box which was good enough to beat the keeper and secure victory for Tavistock. The game was wrapped up as Walker grabbed Thistles' third just before the final whistle.

Activate U15s 2

Tav Thistles U15s 2

THISTLES notched up their first point of the season, but should have taken all three in a match that they dominated from start to finish. Goals from Glenn Tremblett and Kaine Withers saw Tavistock deservedly leading 2 – 1 at the break, but Activate struck again late into the second half, against the run of play, to steal a point.

Thistles' manager Mark Erickson is looking for players to join the U15 team (to qualify you must have been under 15 years old on 31 August 2008). If you are interested please contact Mark on 01752 367711.

Tav Thistles U14s 7

St Cleer U14s 9

In the wind and the rain, Thistles lacked solid commitment at the centre of their defence. St Cleer found it all too easy to saunter past the centre backs and lob the Thistles' goalkeeper who came out to try and stem the constant stream of St Cleer attacks. Thistles found themselves 2-0 down.

Corey Hancock who was outstanding for Thistles up front, produced a defence splitting pass that gave Will Hall the opportunity to reduce the deficit. Within ten minutes, St Cleer had increased their lead to 6-1 before Corey Hancock pulled one back.

In the second half Thistles scored, when Ollie Scanlon received the ball in the box, beat his man and coolly side footed the ball into the net. Will Hall scored his second when he tapped home a Corey shot that the keeper could only parry. St. Cleer increased their lead to 7-4, but Will Lane scored two goals, one a close range effort, the other a terrific shot from the edge of the box. Will Hall then completed his hat trick when he lopped the keeper. At 7-7, Thistles had a chance. Tiredness and a couple of more defensive areas gave the match to St Cleer 9-7.

Tavistock Town U13s 5

Morley Rangers U13s 1

TAVISTOCK were back in winning ways and were soon 3-0 up. The team played an excellent game of football in heavy drizzle. Billy Barriball scored the first two goals; the first using great skill beating the defence and goal keeper, the second was an intended cross which ended up in the back of the net. The back four were a solid unit this week for Town but Rangers managed to pull one back before the half time whistle.

Town still looked strong in the second half with Sam O'Boyle scoring his fifth goal this season and Tom Green's great strike beating the out-stretched keeper. Tavistock were awarded a penalty towards the ended of the game which Barriball scored to make his hat-trick.

Horrabridge Rangers U13s 7

Efford Youth U13s 0

HORRABRIDGE passed the ball with real quality, and it didn't take them long to open the scoring, when Aaron Johnson cleverly played a ball behind the visitors' defence for Courtney Fry to run on to and lash the ball home past the Efford keeper.

The visitors started to come back and had a couple of chances, but home keeper Oliver Cox was always equal to the task. Horrabridge doubled their lead towards the end of the half when a Johnson free kick was saved on the line, but Billy Rawlinson reacted the quickest to turn the ball home.

The second half was all one way traffic as Horrabridge played some outstanding football, passing and keeping the ball well and with Max Burgess commanding the midfield and Dan Dawes and Courtney Fry terrorising the Efford full-backs.

Aaron Johnson beat the offside trap and cleverly placed the ball past the advancing keeper and doubled his tally minutes with another superb strike.

Further goals came from Courtney Fry, Max Burgess and Dan Dawes.

Tavistock Town U11s 10

AFTER a frustrating slow start to the season the Tavistock Town boys bounced back with a convincing away win.

The home side started well until Charlie Barriball scored the first goal which was one of four he scored in the game. Jack Piper played extremely well putting three goals into the net followed closely by his team-mates George Mitchel with two goals and Barney Tossell with his first of the season. By half time Tavistock were 6-0 up. The second half of the game was again dominated by Tavistock which continued until the end of the game.
