Tavistock Thistles U13s 2

Friary Mill 13

AN under strength Thistles faced in form Friary Mill in a match that would virtually guarantee promotion for Friary if they won. In came David Hockin, Kyle Leahy and Dan Poole all making their first appearance for Thistles.

Friary scored first and an injury to Thomas Calvert meant Thistles were down to 10. Calvert returned but only after Friary had got a second goal. Toby Scanlan scored from the spot after a foul on Yuri Costello and for a few minutes Thistles could have got back into the game. However, the lack of possession in midfield meant the Thistles defence were under pressure and by half time the score was 1-6.

Thistles improved in the second half but three more goals for Friary made the result a certainty. Scanlan scored a second before Thistles' player of the match Martin Montague limped off. Friary then scored four more goals to secure a win and give Thistles their worst defeat of the season.

Tavistock Thistles U12s 1

Hooe Rovers  1

TAVISTOCK were on the attack from the first whistle, and carved out a number of excellent opportunities.

Unfortunately, Thistles hit the woodwork rather than the back of the net, but they maintained the pressure pinning Hooe back in their own half.

With minutes to go before half time, and against the run of play, Hooe took the lead.

Thistles started the second half with increased determination. Thistles' back line was solid, thanks to Max Koch in goal, and the defensive partnership of Dom Evans and Dan Johnson; as a team Thistles continued the push forward, and it was only a matter of time before Charlie Phare struck the equaliser.

With their tails up, Thistles pressed on in search of the winning goal, but despite the pressure were unable to score a winner.

Tamerton Foliot 1

Tavistock Thistles U12s 6

WITH a seemingly impregnable defence, Thistles were constantly pushing forward and, try as they might, Tamerton just could not match Tavistock.

A great strike from Lee Horwood and goals from Charlie Phare and Josh Langsford gave Thistles a comfortable half time lead.

In the second half Thistle's Phare got on the end of a Horwood cross to get his second , before Horwood secured his double from the penalty spot.

As Thistles pressed forward in search of more goals, Tamerton scored from a break but this proved to be just a consolation, as Johnnie Maddock was on hand to wrap up the scoring in the final minutes.
