DJM U12 Warspite Tavistock Thistles 4 Lipson United 1 THISTLES rounded off their season with arguably their best team performance to date. Having been heavily beaten by Lipson in their first encounter they produced a dazzling display to overcome a strong Lipson side. It was Lipson that took the lead but Thistles quickly replied with a deft chip by top scorer BJ Hughes. Thistles rounded out the first half with a sustained attack on the Lipson goal but to no avail. As the second half began Thistle persistence was rewarded when a great cross by George Dean resulted in a Lipson player deflecting the ball in to his own net. Buoyed by this Thistles continued to push forward and BJ Hughes added to his earlier effort with a fine shot which gave the keeper no chance. Lipson then tried to respond but with some resolute defending and a couple of timely saves Thistles were determined to keep them at bay. Late on in the game Pete Jarman added a fourth with a rifled shot into the top corner of the net to seal the victory for Thistles. Vince Brooks, the club's chairman, said: 'All in all it was a great team effort and bodes well for next season, well done lads'.
