NOT the result Thistles were looking for in the first game of the season and not one they deserved either. Mayflower took the lead but Thistles responded when Tom Reed broke down their defence. Thistles took the lead then when new signing Jamie Doyle found the back of the net after a brilliant run in his debut game.
The midfield of Chris Hutching, Rob Leeson and Matt Roberts continued to battle away and Martin Perkins had a really excellent game refusing to give up causing Mayflower no end of problems.
The back four of Ben James new signing Adam Dencham, Marc Smerdon, and David Gibbings were solid.
Keeper Robbie Milligan stood his ground and bravely carried on after injury so it was sheer bad luck that in the second half Mayflower was lucky to steal the three points.
