DJM Royal Oak U15s Phoenix City U15s 3 Tavistock Thistles U15s 5 THISTLES were dominant from the first whistle with midfielders, Cadan Lowther, Niall Murphy, Rob Wearing and Sam Newton dictating the play. Good movement from the strikers Sam Walker and Scottie Reroma stretched the Phoenix defence and created gaps. These were soon exploited, as Lowther threaded a ball into the run of Walker who slid the ball past the keeper to claim his first Thistles goal. Try as they might, Phoenix could find no way past the Thistles defenders Ed Argles, Johnny Hake, Jay Lambert and Robin Jones. Thistles went close when a shot from Newton struck the bar while Lowther nearly doubled the lead when he headed just wide from a corner. Tavistock were eventually rewarded when Walker chased down another through ball to slot home his, and Thistles, second. Moments later, on the stroke of half time, Hake volleyed home a Wearing corner to give Thistles a 3-0 lead at the interval. Tavistock struck again immediately from the restart, when Lowther played a ball over the Phoenix defence, and new signing Reroma calmly beat the keeper to record his first goal for the club. City were given the opportunity to get into the game when an Argles challenge on the edge of the box resulted in a penalty, but keeper, Jack Haigh, produced a stunning double save to keep Phoenix at bay. Unfortunately his heroics were in vain as, moments later, following a goalmouth scramble, Phoenix scored. Thistles regrouped, and again increased their lead. A great passing move down the right between Sam Hortopp, Ed Argles and Reroma saw the ball played back to Lowther, who smashed it home from the edge of the penalty box. Having established a dominant lead, Tavistock hit the self-destruct button as the defence went walkabout allowing City to score two late goals. DJM U 13 Hermes division Keyham Kolts 3 Tavistock Town 2 Tavistock's run of form finally caught up with them against Keyham Kolts on Saturday when their 14 game unbeaten run came to a miserable end against a team threatened with relegation. Tavistock started as if they simply just had to turn up to gain a victory, but on a small bumpy pitch it was Keyham who were putting in the effort to give the visitors no time to dwell on the ball. The first half ended goalless, but the second half continued in the same vein with Tavistock struggling to find any kind of momentum. Keyham took the lead when slack defending left a clear run on goal and they extended the lead further when poor marking left an open goal. This at least seemed to stir Tavistock into some action and they proceeded to dominate play and finally produce some chances. Tavistock wasted a number of clear openings before Hicks scored with ten minutes to go. In the final minutes it looked as if Tavistock had salvaged a draw from the poor display when Moorhead equalised. However, Keyham were not to be denied and when Tavistock gifted them a free kick through another defensive mix up, the resultant kick found the top corner of the Tavistock net. With just four league games remaining Tavistock need maximum points to be assured the title but they will need to rediscover their form. Chaddlewood Miners U12s 0 Horrabridge U12s 4 THE home side started the game brightly and forced four corners in quick succession, which Horrabridge defended well. The visitors then went on to open the scoring after ten minutes when Aaron Johnson reacted well to a mistake in the defence and cooly lobbed the goalkeeper from ten yards. Horrabridge began to increase the tempo and were passing the ball well, when Oliver Watt doubled their lead after 15 minutes with a stunning half volley from 20 yards. The second half was a more even encounter and with Jack Northam and Will Glanville outstanding in defence, the home side could only muster one shot on goal which Alex Madar saved well. Horrabridge found their third goal courtesy of a penalty which Billy Rawlinson converted after a Chaddlewood player handled. The visitors added their final goal in the final minute when Aaron Johnson pounced on a poor goal kick to thunder the ball straight back over the goalkeeper from 25 yards. Player of the match: Will Glanville. Colyton U12s 6 Okehampton Argyle U12s 3 After defeat to Okehampton last week, Colyton were really up for this cup match and they soon built up a 3-0 lead, playing some direct football. Ruben Forrester scored two similar goals by tapping in great crosses from Ethan Foster. Keeper Ben Hurley pulled off some excellent saves but Okehampton found themselves 5-2 down at half-time. Toby Gostling pulled a further goal back, heading in well from a corner, but a strong Colyton replied again for a final 6-3 score. Players of the match for Argyle: Ben Hurley and Harry Baker. Parker Cup Okehampton Argyle U11s 9 Lyme Regis U11s 1 Argyle secured a convincing win in this cup semi final. They started the first half quite slowly although they were never in danger of conceding a goal and with two strikes by Ross Voaden they were two nil ahead at half time. The second half saw a much better performance from the home team. Argyle dominated play and began to enjoy themselves scoring a further seven goals. Ross Voaden scored a further three while Jamie Mallet, Ben Jarvis, Ben Bickle and Arron Dearing also added their names to the score sheet. Regis had a small consolation shortly before the end of play managing to pull one back. Player of the match for Argyle: Liam Alford.
