A FASCINATING evening is in store in Bere Ferrers this month, for anyone interested in Cornish pilot gigs. Ralph Bird, who is gig racing?s best known boat builder, will be presenting an illustrated history of pilot gigs, including a slide show, at Bere Ferrers Church Hall on Friday February 17 at 7.30pm. Tickets on the door cost £2.50. The event has been organised by Tamar and Tavy Gig Club ? half the proceeds of the evening will be donated to the Children?s Hospice South West and the remainder will go towards the gig club?s equipment fund.
