MARY TAVY recently played host to friends from their twin village of Mery Corbon.
Thirty guests arrived, many of whom had been to the village before, some on the very first twinning visit 22 years ago.
The first day was spent at the National Trust's Cothele House and culminated with a dinner in the Coronation Hall in Mary Tavy which was decorated with flags and bunting and pictures of Mery Corbon.
An excellent meal provided by Dukes of Tavistock was followed by country dancing which proved popular with young and old.
The Sunday was spent with host families, many getting together in groups for excursions and meals and a generally more leisurely day.
Monday was a morning to explore Tavistock, and guests bought goods to take home, including their favourites — marmalade, tea and cream.
It was a happy band that Mary Tavy twinners waved off on the ferry with lots of promises to meet next year when it is the turn of the West Devon village residents to visit Normandy.
