OPMs A 0

Tavistock Mens Thirds 1

TAVISTOCK set out to frustrate an experienced OPM's team and managed to do that throughout this close encounter.

Tavistock fielding six players in their first full hockey season (Luke Curno, Sean Stimpson, Charles Bassett, Sam Sparks, Hugh Venton and Laurie Marshall) defended as a team well from the start and built some good interlinking play to try and catch OPMs on the break.

The defensive line of Chris Park, Luke Curno, Mark Tosdevin and Greg Curno stood firm against the pacey wing attacks coming their way and set the midfield on the counter on numerous occasions. Sparks, Laurie, Bassett, Stimpson and Venton linked well with the youth of Reynolds and experience of Andrews.

The score came from a short corner with Andrews on  the post to net the only goal of the game. Other chances came at both ends with Tavistock missing a glorious opprtunity to settle any nerves they may have had as the final whistle approached.

It is great to see a building team spirit and new faces fitting into a close-knit group of players, and this was the perfect result after having some close, battling performances recently with nothing to show for all their efforts. Tavistock will look to push on again after the Christmas break.
