A HOME in Hatherleigh is to open its grounds again for a clay pigeon shoot in aid of the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF). This will be the third year in a row Susie and Rupert Lascelles have given their home to raise money for the charity. This year they are hosting another clay pigeon shoot at their home, the Old Station House in Hatherleigh. There will be three categories: the team event, the open event and the pool shoot, with prizes available across the board. Teams wanting to compete are advised to enter in advance, though competitors can turn up on the day. Everyone is welcome to this event which will take place on Saturday, July 15 from 10am to 5pm. Parking is free all day, and a bar and food will be provided. Everyone is welcome. For further information contact Susie on 01837 810928, or Annabel Lewers on 01837 682935. ELF is a charity working to relieve sickness among sufferers of leukaemia and related diseases in Devon and the surrounding areas. The charity supports the work of the haematology centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. The centre treats blood cancer victims, performs bone marrow transplantations and conducts research into the causes and treatment of the disease. The hospital provides specialist services to approximately 750,000 patients. Since the start of a public appeal, launched in October, ELF has raised £1.5-million of the £2.4-million cost of the haematology centre. In 2004 Susie and Rupert Lascelles gave a fundraising lunch and collected more than £3,500. For 2005 they decided to combine a small country fair, dog show and a clay pigeon shoot in a huge effort to raise money. They managed to raise £9,000.
