THEY may have a cuddly name but their music is wild and aggressive! Now celebrating their 20th year together, The Hamsters are the UK's most foremost blues-rock band and will be performing live at the Wharf in Tavistock on December 16. Although the Hamsters are famous mainly for belting out their own special material, they are also widely recognised as the best interpreters of the fabulous music of Jimi Hendrix. Originally, The Hamsters came together as a band for their own amusement, taking their name from The Sex Pistols, who used it as a pseudonym to outwit prudish council officials. Members of The Hamsters have performed with many entertainment greats, including Eric Clapton, Alison Moyet, Doctor Feelgood, Walter Trout and the late Alexis Korner. At this gig, they will be showcasing material from their latest album, 'Open All Hours' and concert DVD, 'to Infinity, And Beyond!' During the evening, there will be a barbeque held on The Wharf patio. For more details, call the box office on 01822 611166.
