SCARECROWS could be seen enjoying a special village feast in Lydford at their ?exstrawdinary? event. Lydford villagers enjoyed their fourth scarecrow competition which culminated in a ?picnic? for all the scarecrows. Sue Holland, organiser of the event, said: ?We?ve been doing the competition for the past three years, and we have a scarecrow picnic, where people bring their own scarecrows. It was much more low key this year because we had a big celebration for VJ Day. Last year we had 51 entries, but hopefully next year it will be big again.? Everyone received a prize for their inventive scarecrows, but at the end of the competition Anita Stock won the adults section with, ?West Devon Green Man? and four-year-old Gemma Friend won the children?s competition with her witch.
