A GLITTERING event at Tavistock Town Hall last Saturday raised more than £3,500 for two charities. The annual Pink Ribbon Ball, organised as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month, was filled with many partygoers, some of whom are pictured.. An auction and a raffle took place, along with a casino, with proceeds going directly to Cancer Research UK and the Primrose Ward at Derriford. As the Times went to press the amount raised was still being collected. Organiser Val McCarthy expressed thanks to everyone who contributed to the evening, all the businesses who donated items for the auction and raffle, and Fulfords, Mansbridge and Balment, Miller and Son, Salisbury Henderson, Stratton Creber and Ward and Chowen, estate agents, who contributed towards the cost of the casino. She said: ?When I booked the date last year, I had no idea that it was the Rugby World Cup semi-final or that England would be taking part, so an extra thank you goes to all the supporters who forfeited watching the game live to be with us.?
