Bovey Tracey 17
North Tawton 5

North Tawton, still waiting to get going, were again caught on the hop when Bovey took a quick tap penalty and ran wide of the defence to score in the come.
It was again converted to put Bovey 17-0 up.
North Tawton finally woke up in the closing minutes of the first half when a scrum close to the visitors' line saw scrum half Martin Friggins whip the ball out to outside half John Stone to score under the post. The try was unconverted leaving the score at half-time 17-5 to the home side.
North Tawton played better after the break but made basic mistakes. They were also let down in the lineout which has been a good feature of their play.
A disappointing afternoon — North Tawton were far too friendly in this friendly and did not manage to turn the game around in the second half.
North Tawton II 0
Ilfracombe II 47
NORTH Tawton started poorly against good opposition and let Ilfracombe's backs in for two soft tries in the centre.
With good controlled rugby coming from the visitors committing the forwards up front and then winning the ball wide in the backs and being a yard quicker on the ball, Ilfracombe found themselves 33-0 up at half-time.
North Tawton woke up in the second half.
The forwards picked themselves up and this inspired the backs to some better play, by evergreen Dave Knott and captain Joe Fewings at half back. But Ilfracombe proved too much and ran out winners.
l North Tawton firsts have no game this Saturday due to the World Cup final in Wales.
